The United Labor Agency is the social services agency of organized labor in Northeast Ohio. We were founded in 1971, as a joint venture between the AFL-CIO, Teamsters and United Auto Workers.

Our mission is to strengthen the community by focusing the resources, compassion and commitment of the labor movement. Throughout our history, we have focused on the following purposes:

The United Labor Agency has, during its history, provided many different types of services, ranging from creating and managing a halfway house, providing food and medical supplies, low-cost home renovation services, working with disadvantaged youth, and providing services to dislocated (laid-off) workers.

The ULA's programs and services are open to any member of our community in need-union membership is not required. We are funded in part by the federal, state, county and city governments; we are a partner agency of United Way Services and receive grants through local foundations.

The ULA is governed by an elected board of trustees, who are drawn from AFL-CIO member unions and community representatives and run by professional staff with experience in their fields. We are a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) agency.
