Information and Referral
Information and Referral is the name of the process that we use to help needy members of the community. If we can't solve the problem, we'll do our best to find some other organization that can.
When we receive a request for help, an Information Specialist meets with the person in need. If the problem can be solved by an existing program within the ULA, we will refer them to the right person for service.
In special or unusual cases—where the needs can't be met internally—our Information Specialists work to find the people or group best qualified to solve the problem and make a referral. Typically, this will mean calling the other agency, explaining the situation and discussing the best solution for the person. This process ensures that the person receives personal attention from people who understand the problem.
The ULA has provided solutions or referrals for myriad problems, including emergency food and clothing, alcohol/drug abuse, job discrimination, unemployment, healthcare, housing, counseling and budget difficulties. Our Information and Referral program is funded by Cuyahoga County's Title XX funds and is available at no cost to any member of the community.
